  • Business Bank Account Opening in the UAE: Steps, Documents and Cost

Business bank account opening assistance from First Idea Consultant LLC depends on where your company is today.

Forming a company now? Premium is company, one residence visa and business bank account opening assistance: AED 28,136 with Meydan or AED 28,436 with IFZA. Bank account opening is subject to each bank’s KYC, compliance review and final approval. We prepare the file, pre-check it against the bank’s requirements, and if one bank declines we apply to the next.

Already licensed in the UAE? We prepare, pre-check and submit the bank file, and help when a bank reviews, restricts or closes an existing account. Send your business activity and your licence details on WhatsApp and you get an itemised written quote.

Who this page is for

For owners of a UAE mainland, free zone or offshore company, and for anyone whose UAE licence is being issued now. If your company is licensed outside the UAE, message us before you apply to a UAE bank.

What business bank account opening assistance costs

Company bank account opening assistance is priced one of two ways, depending on whether your company exists yet. A company being formed takes the Premium package, which carries a fixed total. A company that already holds a UAE licence is quoted in writing for the banking work alone.

New company: Premium

Premium: company, one residence visa and business bank account opening assistance. Row labels and figures copied from the First Idea price hub, firstideaconsultant.ae/business-setup-cost-in-dubai/, checked 21 September 2026
Premium Meydan IFZA
Premium total, digital business bank account opening assistance AED 28,136 AED 28,436
Premium with a local bank account, total AED 33,136 AED 33,436

Premium is the Standard company and one residence visa, plus business bank account opening assistance, one personal bank account in Dubai opening assistance and a digital company stamp. The local bank version needs your physical presence at the bank.

Bank account opening is subject to each bank’s KYC, compliance review and final approval. We prepare the file, pre-check it against the bank’s requirements, and if one bank declines we apply to the next.

Gold adds premier local bank account opening assistance, where a relationship manager depends on the selected bank and its approval, a second personal bank account opening assistance and twelve months of corporate services support.

Every row behind these totals is on our page on the cost of setting up a business in Dubai, and the four options sit side by side in our Dubai company setup packages.

Send your activity to Amir and get the Premium options in writing

Already licensed: banking assistance on its own

There is no fixed First Idea price for banking assistance on its own. Your quote covers:

  1. file preparation;
  2. pre-check against the bank’s checklist;
  3. bank selection and application;
  4. coordination of the KYC meeting or video call and compliance follow-up;
  5. application to the next bank if one declines.

Send your business activity and your licence details on WhatsApp and you get an itemised written quote.

Minimum balances and monthly fees are set by each bank, not by us, and they change. We keep them off this page and cover them in our guide to UAE business bank accounts compared.

Documents a company needs for a business bank account

The business bank account documents required fall into three groups: the company file, the people behind it, and whatever the bank adds after it reads your activity. Corporate bank account requirements Dubai banks publish are a starting point, not the final list, because each bank runs its own checklist. One habit saves the most time: write a one to two page company profile saying what the business does, who its customers are, which countries it operates in and the expected monthly transaction volume.

Company documents

Company documents for a UAE business bank account. First Idea Consultant LLC client checklist, reviewed 21 September 2026
Document Covers Asked for Notes
Trade licence The company’s right to carry out the activity Every bank Must be current at submission
Certificate of incorporation or registration Legal existence Every bank Issued by the mainland authority or the free zone
Memorandum and articles of association Ownership and powers Every bank With any amendments
Share certificate Who holds the shares Some banks Free zones usually issue one
Board resolution naming the signatories Who may operate the account Some banks Always where a company is a shareholder
Establishment card The company’s immigration file Some banks Where the company sponsors residence visas
Proof of office address Where the company sits Every bank Tenancy contract, Ejari or flexi-desk agreement. A flexi-desk licence needs its lease or shared-desk agreement
Business plan or company profile What the money will do Every bank for a company with no trading history One to two pages is enough

Shareholder and signatory documents

Shareholder and signatory documents. First Idea Consultant LLC client checklist, reviewed 21 September 2026
Document Covers Asked for Notes
Passports of shareholders, signatories and beneficial owners Identity Every bank Clear colour copies, originals seen at the meeting
Emirates ID and residence visa of UAE-resident signatories UAE residence Where applicable This is why the bank file usually follows the residence visa
Ultimate beneficial owner declaration The ownership chain Every bank On the bank’s own form
Proof of personal address or a bank reference letter Where the owners live and bank Some banks A utility bill or a letter from an existing bank

What banks ask for in addition

Additional documents UAE banks commonly request. First Idea Consultant LLC client checklist, reviewed 21 September 2026
Document Covers Asked for Notes
Source of funds evidence Where the opening money comes from Some banks, depends on activity Personal bank statements from the shareholder are the usual form
Contracts, purchase orders and invoices That the activity is real Some banks A signed contract or letter of intent carries weight
Statements from the company’s current or previous bank Banking history Existing companies, commonly Stamped statements, usually the recent months
Latest financial statements Trading position Existing companies, commonly Where the company has them
VAT or corporate tax registration certificate Registration status Existing companies, commonly Where one has been issued
CV or professional background of key shareholders Who runs the business Some banks Often asked for a new consultancy
Proof of overseas residential address Non-resident shareholders Some banks A utility bill or tenancy agreement from the home country

On tax, in one line: 0% personal income tax. Corporate tax is 9% only on profit above AED 375,000, and registration is included in every package from Standard upward.

Documents for a corporate shareholder issued abroad are usually attested in the issuing country and legalised in the UAE. Each bank’s own list decides. For a personal account rather than a company account, see our list of documents to open a UAE bank account.

How business bank account opening works, step by step

Corporate account opening follows the same six steps whether you are about to open company bank account in Dubai for a new licence or you already hold one. A corporate bank account UAE banks will accept starts with a licence that matches what you tell them you do, and company bank account opening in UAE goes wrong most often when those two things do not line up.

The six steps of a UAE business bank account application, as First Idea runs them, September 2026
Step Who does it Typical time
1. Licence and establishment card for a new company, or licence and document check for an existing one First Idea with the free zone authority, or First Idea checking that your licence and documents are current Runs with the company formation; for an existing company it starts with a document check before the file is prepared
2. File preparation and pre-check First Idea, against the chosen bank’s checklist Depends on how quickly you can supply statements and proof of address
3. Bank selection and application First Idea with you; we apply to the bank that fits your activity Submitted once the file is complete
4. KYC meeting or video call The signatories with the bank; First Idea prepares you and coordinates Scheduled by the bank
5. Compliance review The bank; First Idea helps you answer its follow-up questions Set by the bank, and the longest step
6. IBAN and online banking The bank After approval

At step 6 the account gives you an IBAN for SWIFT transfers, multi-currency options where the bank offers them, and WPS salary payments for your staff.

On timing, honestly:

  • a complete file to an IBAN typically takes 2 to 6 weeks at a traditional bank;
  • digital-first accounts can be quicker once compliance clears;
  • higher-risk activities, and consultancies with many foreign clients, take longer.

We do not publish an approval time for any named bank, because the bank sets it and it moves with your file.

Which UAE banks open accounts for companies

These are publicly documented options, checked on each bank’s own website on the day of writing. They are not recommendations, and First Idea claims no relationship with any of them. We apply to the bank that fits your activity.

How four UAE banks describe business account onboarding on their own websites, checked 21 September 2026
Bank Onboarding, in the bank’s own words Suited to Premium version
Wio Business Digital. Wio’s business page calls the application “simple and fully digital” and app-based (Wio published, checked 21 September 2026) Startups, service and consultancy companies Digital version of Premium
Mashreq NEOBIZ Digital. Mashreq’s NEOBIZ page describes an online application in three steps (Mashreq published, checked 21 September 2026) Startups, small trading and service companies Digital version of Premium
RAKBANK Digital application. RAKBANK’s own Quick Apply portal opens business accounts through an online application (RAKBANK published, checked 21 September 2026) Trading and SME companies Local bank version, with physical presence where the bank asks for it
Emirates NBD Digital application. Emirates NBD’s digital account opening page says you can “apply for business banking packages from anywhere, anytime” (Emirates NBD published, checked 21 September 2026) Trading, holding and established operating companies Local bank version, physical presence

Which of these will onboard your company depends on the activity, the shareholders’ nationalities and the countries you trade with, and the answer changes. Balances, fees and account features are covered in UAE business bank accounts compared.

Mainland, free zone and offshore companies: what changes at the bank

A corporate bank account Dubai banks open for a mainland company is not assessed the same way as one for a free zone company, and an offshore company bank account in Dubai is a third case again.

What changes at the bank by company type. First Idea Consultant LLC, September 2026
Company type What the bank looks at Notes
Mainland The DET licence, an Ejari-registered office, the activity and the signatories Typically the widest choice of banks, because the company can invoice UAE customers directly
Free zone The free zone licence, the flexi-desk or office agreement, the activity and where the customers are Banks can be more selective by zone and by activity, so check each bank’s own criteria before you apply. See Meydan free zone and IFZA free zone
Offshore, such as RAK ICC or JAFZA Offshore The structure, the beneficial owners and the source of funds No UAE trading and no residence visa, so typically fewer banks and longer reviews

One point decides this for many buyers: an offshore company cannot sponsor a residence visa. That is what Premium adds, because the residence visa and the Emirates ID that comes with it open the door to a wider set of banks.

Opening a business bank account in Dubai for non-residents

This section is about the company’s account, not a personal one.

  • The company can apply, subject to the bank’s KYC.
  • Most banks want at least one signatory with a UAE residence visa and Emirates ID, or the shareholder present at an in-person or video KYC meeting.
  • Some digital-first banks accept video KYC once the licence is issued.
  • The residence visa inside Premium is why many owners take company, visa and bank account opening assistance together. The visa does not secure approval; it widens the set of banks that will read your file.

A personal account in your own name is a different question, answered in how to open a bank account in the UAE for non residents. If an application in your name has already been turned down, read why non-resident bank accounts get rejected.

Reopening a business account and bank KYC reviews

Existing companies come to us when a bank asks for updated KYC documents, restricts or closes an account, or when the company needs a new account after a closure. Our corporate bank account compliance and KYC support, including help for companies looking for corporate bank account reopening services, is file work:

  1. Read the bank’s letter or request.
  2. Collect and check what the bank asked for: the current trade licence, signatories’ passports and Emirates IDs, the UBO declaration, source-of-funds evidence, recent invoices and contracts, and the tenancy or flexi-desk agreement.
  3. Write a clear description of the business activity and money flows.
  4. Submit through the bank’s own channel.
  5. If the account has been closed, prepare a new application to another bank.

The decision to keep, reopen or close an account is the bank’s.

Bank account opening is subject to each bank’s KYC, compliance review and final approval. We prepare the file, pre-check it against the bank’s requirements, and if one bank declines we apply to the next.

Send your business activity and the bank’s letter on WhatsApp and you get an itemised written quote.

WhatsApp Amir about a bank review, a restricted account or a closed account

Why applications get declined, and how we pre-check the file

The reasons we see, one line each:

  • incomplete or expired documents, including a trade licence that lapsed before submission;
  • an activity description that is vague or does not match the licence;
  • no verifiable office proof;
  • an activity the bank treats as higher risk;
  • source of funds that cannot be evidenced;
  • an incomplete ownership chain, or a shareholder from a jurisdiction the bank treats as higher risk;
  • past banking problems such as bounced cheques or defaults;
  • information in the documents that differs from what the signatory tells the bank;
  • an application to a bank that does not onboard that free zone or that activity.

Before anything is submitted, the file is reviewed by Amir Aslam, Founder, against the chosen bank’s checklist. Four things make that review shorter: have your existing bank statements ready, show real business activity such as a signed contract or letter of intent, be upfront about shareholder nationalities and the countries the business works with, and have a UAE phone number and address ready.

Bank account opening is subject to each bank’s KYC, compliance review and final approval. We prepare the file, pre-check it against the bank’s requirements, and if one bank declines we apply to the next.

Frequently asked questions

Can a non-resident open a business bank account in Dubai for their company?

The company can apply, subject to the bank’s KYC. Most banks want at least one signatory with a UAE residence visa and Emirates ID, or the shareholder present at an in-person or video KYC meeting. A personal account without an Emirates ID is a different question, answered in our guide on how to open a bank account in the UAE for non residents. Bank account opening is subject to each bank’s KYC, compliance review and final approval. We prepare the file, pre-check it against the bank’s requirements, and if one bank declines we apply to the next.

Can I open a business bank account online without visiting the UAE?

Some digital-first banks onboard by app and video call after the licence is issued, and the four banks in the table above all describe an online or virtual application on their own websites. Traditional banks usually still want a meeting with the signatory. Either way the licence comes first, and for a new company so does the establishment card. No bank commits in advance to opening an account without a meeting.

How long does it take to open a business bank account in the UAE?

A complete file to an IBAN typically takes 2 to 6 weeks at a traditional bank. Digital-first accounts can be quicker once compliance clears. Higher-risk activities, and businesses with customers in many countries, take longer. We do not publish an approval time for any named bank.

What documents are required for a business bank account in the UAE?

The core file is the trade licence, the certificate of incorporation, the memorandum and articles, proof of office address, passports of the shareholders and signatories, the Emirates ID and residence visa of any UAE-resident signatory, a UBO declaration and a short company profile; the three tables above set out who is asked for what. An existing company is commonly also asked for statements from its current or previous bank, its latest financial statements, its VAT or corporate tax registration certificate, and recent invoices and contracts. Each bank’s own list decides, and we pre-check yours against it before submission.

How much does business bank account opening assistance cost?

For a new company it is priced inside Premium, which is company, one residence visa and business bank account opening assistance, at AED 28,136 with Meydan or AED 28,436 with IFZA. Bank account opening is subject to each bank’s KYC, compliance review and final approval. We prepare the file, pre-check it against the bank’s requirements, and if one bank declines we apply to the next. If you already hold a UAE licence and need the banking work alone, send your business activity and your licence details on WhatsApp and you get an itemised written quote.

Do you provide corporate bank account compliance and KYC support, including reopening?

Yes, as file work: we read the bank’s letter, collect and check exactly what it asked for, write a clear description of the activity and the money flows, and submit through the bank’s own channel. If the account has been closed we prepare a new application to another bank. The decision to keep, reopen or close an account is the bank’s. Send your business activity and the bank’s letter on WhatsApp and you get an itemised written quote.

Does Premium include a business bank account?

Premium includes business bank account opening assistance, not the account itself, because approval is the bank’s decision. It is AED 28,136 with Meydan and AED 28,436 with IFZA, and the local bank version, as priced on our business setup cost page, is AED 33,136 with Meydan or AED 33,436 with IFZA and needs your physical presence at the bank. Bank account opening is subject to each bank’s KYC, compliance review and final approval. We prepare the file, pre-check it against the bank’s requirements, and if one bank declines we apply to the next.

Why do UAE banks reject business bank account applications?

Most declines trace back to the same handful of things: incomplete or expired documents, an activity description that does not match the licence, no verifiable office proof, an activity or a shareholder jurisdiction the bank treats as higher risk, source of funds that cannot be evidenced, past banking problems, or an application sent to a bank that does not onboard that free zone or activity. We pre-check the whole file against the chosen bank’s checklist before submission, and if one bank declines we apply to the next.
